As an Oldschool Runescape Ironman account, you’ve signed yourself up to do everything yourself, all the way. You can do many things to plan, prepare, and organize yourself to make things easier and more efficient in the future.
Collecting all your own resources and producing your own potions, food, and necessities for skills can be tedious. Here are a few tips and tricks to keep in mind when playing your Ironman account.
The time investment mindset
Leveling up an Ironman account can be tedious and take a lot of time. You must go into your new Ironman account with the mindset of being prepared to invest time. Some skills take many hours longer to develop due to having to collect resources yourself and building up other skills, quests, and diaries to make that possible.
Everybody’s goals are different, but no matter what, you cannot pay your way to the top as an Ironman. It’s all time-based.
Quests and Diaries are your friends
Many people skip over quests and diaries as something they can do later. As an Ironman, it’s much more valuable to your account if you jump into them as soon as you can. It also works great for building up your account’s foundations too. Once you unlock the ability to do a quest, just get it done! Once completed, you never have to do that quest again.
In early levels, quests can also be valuable sources of that beginning grind to leveling up. For example, the fastest way to level 9 Runecrafting is to complete the Abyss Miniquest. The quickest way through early Agility levels is to complete the Tourist Trap and use the reward XP Lamps on Agility.
Quests and Diaries will also unlock many of your teleportation options, valuable as an Ironman. You can’t just buy a bunch of teleport tablets or energy potions. You’re going to need to gather your own. Unlocking as many teleports as you can is great. Notably, the Ardougne Capes have great teleports for a multitude of later traveling and skilling.
Suppose you don’t want to spend the time on all the early, tedious quests. You could buy a ready-made OSRS Ironman Account from Account Kings.
Early Kingdom
The Kingdom of Miscellania unlocked fully after completing the quests Throne of Miscellania and Royal Trouble, gives you access to a repeatable activity, Managing Miscellania. In very basic terms, what this allows you to do is provide minor upkeep and invest gold in collecting resources as a reward later. The earlier you unlock this repeatable activity, the more value your account will gain from it. The reason to utilize this is to gather resources with barely any time invested in leveling up your earlier Herblore, Fletching, and various other skills. Mostly Herblore. The later you are into leveling, the less importance Miscellania holds for your progress. However, it’s still nice to collect a few week’s worth of investment to bump up your banked resources. It’ll always save you time!
Thieving first!
Thieving is a constant source of resources and gold, no matter what. The higher your Thieving level is, the better it will be for your account. One of the more significant reasons for needing Thieving is to steal from Master Farmers. These will result in a large proportion of your seed acquisition. Seeds, although it seems you get a lot elsewhere, actually get used relatively quickly. As an Ironman, you’re going to need to get all the herbs and secondary ingredients for leveling your herblore yourself, which, of course, means plenty of Farming and lots and lots of seeds.
Thieving is also suitable for many other reasons, such as being able to thieve gold from Knights and, later on, gems from the Tzhaar area. Gems are also beneficial as any jewelry you need; you’ll need to make yourself. That means all the gems, all the gold, and all the enchantment runes.
Unlock a good food source early
Grab your nets, rods, and bait. It is time to go fishing!
As an Ironman, you cannot just buy an abundance of food from the Grand Exchange. You’re, you’re going to need to acquire it all by yourself. Unlock a good food source early! One of the better options for food sources on an Ironman is Karambwans. They’re not too difficult to unlock, your fishing doesn’t need to be super high to get started, and it’s also a pretty laid-back method, perfect for doing while working on other tasks on the side or even on-the-go with Runescape Mobile.
Later on, you may want to up your game and start fishing Minnows. However, this does come later as you’ll need 82 Fishing and the full Angler’s outfit to get started. You’ll be glad you did it,—a fantastic food source for any level Ironman.
Start your runs as soon as possible
Runs, of course, meaning resource building such as Farming, Hunter with birdhouse runs, Seaweed Farming. The earlier you start these, the happier you’ll be in the long run. Make your routine, stick to it. Farming, especially, this is time-limited. You can’t do all your Farming in one day. It has to be spread out across multiple runs, every day, every week. Building the resources in your bank will also be satisfying to watch as they stack up. When you come to leveling your Herblore or requiring resources, it’ll be a breeze if you’ve started all your runs early.
Do a Farm run between Slayer tasks. Commit to running a Birdhouse run when you first get online. Pick a day you’re going to do your Tears of Guthix run and commit to it.
Keep up with your goals!
Those were some tips and tricks that should help you with your Ironman account. The last advice to give is to set yourself some goals. Maybe you want to achieve a particular total level, grab a specific drop, or gain access to an area such as Prifddinas. Goals are the outline of your account progress and will keep you working towards the achievement. Make sure your goals are appropriate. It may even be that you set yourself to achieve a certain level by the end of the week. Putting a deadline on your goals will enhance its importance.
Good luck with your Ironman account goals!
